A Look Back at 2024 and What’s Ahead in 2025

Happy holidays! I hope this past year was full of success and good times.

2024 was a special year for me, as I celebrated my 25th year in business. It’s hard to believe that so much time has passed. To put it in perspective, consider the cell phone you used back in 1999. Yeah, it’s been that long!

The web has changed just as much. The way websites work and are built has completely transformed. Thank you for taking this journey with me!

Now, let’s talk about the future. Here are a few notable items I wanted to share:

Is 2025 a Good Time for a Redesign?

My approach to website redesign has traditionally been hands-off. My motto has been: If you’re happy with your site, so am I. Besides, high-pressure sales have never been my style.

However, if your website hasn’t seen a redesign in 5+ years, it’s time to consider one. So much has changed:

  • Accessibility standards are important for legal and moral reasons. It’s no longer an optional feature. Older websites may be lagging in this area.
  • Mobile web usage continues to climb – and so have user expectations. A modern website must be optimized for small screens.
  • Performance is a deciding factor for users. An older site with outdated code is often slower. It may not be compatible with the latest server software, like PHP.
  • Website security continues to be a top concern. Legacy code can be a risk.
  • Search engines are prioritizing sites that excel in all of the above.
  • New features and capabilities make WordPress more powerful than ever. Changes to the content editing experience allow for more advanced layouts and plenty of new plugins are available.

Get in touch if you have any questions or if a redesign has been on your mind.

Premium WordPress Hosting Now Available

Kinsta Managed WordPress Hosting

Web hosting has changed dramatically in recent years. The costs of keeping your site secure have risen. It requires more resources and vigilance than ever. It’s taking a toll on web designers like me and website owners like you.

It has also become clear that cheap web hosting can’t keep up – especially when it comes to WordPress. These sites need a level of security that bargain bin providers aren’t offering.

That’s why I’m now recommending premium WordPress hosting from Kinsta. They are WordPress specialists and have been in business since 2013.

Here are a few things to know about Kinsta:

  • They offer a higher level of security than most hosting companies. If your site should become infected by malware, they’ll clean it up for FREE. They’re even ISO 27001 certified.
  • They use the latest Google Cloud server technology. Your site will benefit from top-notch performance.
  • Kinsta monitors your site for uptime, errors, and security flaws. They’ll automatically contact you if any issues are detected.

Yes, Kinsta is a bit more expensive than the bargain hosts (plans start at $350 per year). However, the old saying is true: You get what you pay for.

Interested in switching? Feel free to get in touch with me to discuss the process.

*Switching to Kinsta means paying them directly for hosting. It also means I will no longer bill you for hosting.

**As part of Kinsta’s affiliate program, I receive a commission for referrals to their service. I have also used their platform and can attest to its speed and security.

Happy New Year!

Here’s wishing you a happy and healthy 2025! I also wish the very same for your website. 😉 Thanks again for your continued support.
